we left last thursday at 10am. got to the airport around 830. had breakfast. we ran into my mom's aunt and uncle and cousin. they had no idea we were going to my grandparents 50th. no one knew but my uncle steve and my uncle scott. we were staying at steve's so he kinda had to know we were coming. anyways back to the airport. come to find out, my moms aunt and uncle, judy and george... and cousin, kim... were on our flight! it was like holy crap! so kim and i ended up sitting next to each other on the plane. the flight was alright. kinda boring. 3+ hours long. we got there around 430 or so. my uncle steve came to pick half of us up. we couldnt fit all 6 of us in one rental car. we headed to this bar/restaurant called the horny goat. thats where we surprised my grandparents. my grandma cried when she saw us. my grandpa was shocked. they were both so happy we made it though. so we partied for awhile at the bar. my aunt sharon couldnt make it because she was too busy at the flower shop... so we came up with this crazy idea to ransack her house. my uncle tom was home and let us in. my family began rearranging everything and being all crazy. my uncles out crazy straws into a giant bottle of wine and were drinking it that way. they even put doggie diapers on their head. after awhile we went to this bar down the street. my uncle wore the diaper on his head. the bartenders though he was a little slow. haha. it was hilarious.
friday -
we woke up pretty early and got ready. we went to visit my dads parents at the apartment that was pretty close to where we were staying. grandpa gave us the tour of the complex. grandma didnt really know who we were. dementia isnt any fun :/ but then again she hadnt seen us in over 3 years. after that we went on a trip down memory lane. we drove through our old neighborhood and stopped by to look at our old house. it was nice. then we met everyone at the cemetery. we finally buried my great grandma that died 10 years ago. better late than never right? shes finally with great grandpa though. which is good. then we went back to steve and cathys for a packer party ;) we had lots of food. and lots of alcohol. my brothers and i played some ladder golf. it was a lot of fun.
saturday -
we got up and my brothers and i went with my mom to the driving range. lucas really wanted to golf. so we all went. it was fun. then we just hung around all day until it was time to get ready for the 50th anniversary party. got all beautified. then we went to church. i didnt feel very comfortable in church. we made it through though, without the place burning down, so i call it a success. it was then off to meyers for the party! a lot of my dads side of the family ended up coming! it was so good to see everyone that came! although it wasnt long enough to get to visit with everyone. i wish i wouldve talked to my cousins more! the party was out of control.. everyone was so drunk! i was drinking lots and lots of this beer called spotted cow. its a wisconsin brewed beer thats only sold in wisconsin. it was soooooo good! makes me wish it was sold elsewhere. i got way too drunk and was up way too late.
sunday -
after sleeping for like 3 hours, we got up to get in the car to head to noahs ark! it was like a 2 1/2 hour drive! oh boy, i wasnt feeling too great on the way there. but we made it. i ate breakfast and felt a bit better. we got into noahs ark and we were all so excited! marques justyn and i rode almost every ride we could. and rode some more than once. there was this one called time warp that i wish i hadnt gone on. and i went on it twice. ugh. i got whiplash. it sucked. but i felt okay throughout the day. we had a lot of fun and got pretty sunburnt.
monday -
woke up and could barely move. my neck and back were killing me. stupid slide. we got all ready to go and left for the airport. it was so sad. we could see our breath outside while getting into the car. the weather was so beautiful the entire time we were there! i miss it. the flight home was awful. lots of turbulence. but i sat and watched avatar on my phone. i had remembered that it came with my phone after the flight there. we got home around 10. it was so hot outside. it was a bummer. but it was a great trip! i hope its not 3 years before i go back again.
